Today, we are living a privileged moment for us for once more we see clearly that the Spirit does not have boundaries. The charism of the Mercedarian Missionaries of Bérriz is spreading its roots beyond consecrated life. Actually there are groups of lay people who feel that the Mercedarian liberating Charism gives meaning to their Christian and human life.

They are diverse persons, of different ages and activities, but with a common vocation: to live their Christian faith from the Mercedarian Missionaries of Berríz spirituality.

Today the laity groups along with us are making a communal journey of openness to the Spirit. We are searching together in how this call is to be specific in ordinary life and making our Charism become more universal.

MMB LAY ASSOCIATES

WHAT DO WE FEEL CALLED TO DO

To live as Jesus of Nazareth and pass on to our world the presence of God who is love and mercy.

To live a missionary lifestyle that generates hope, justice, nonviolence, reconciliation and peace in the world.

To form missionary communities and, from the MMB Charism, liberate people from the new forms of slavery of the XXI century.

WHAT IS THE MMB LAITY

The MMB laity is formed by all lay Christians, men, women, young people who feels being called by God to live her/his Christian Life through the charism and spirituality of the Mercedarian Missionaries of Bérriz.

MMBL wishes to help its members to grow in sharing faith, following Jesus and living his gospel in the light of Mother Margarita’s Charism.

It offers us:

  • A SPIRITUALITY

That is founded on the analysis of reality, responding to the signs of the times, from Jesus and his Gospel.

It is rooted in a transforming prayer that takes us to a personal and communal liberation, as Mother Margarita lived it.

It is lived in fraternity, encouraging among us fraternal relationships, and looking for the good of each one the members of the community. Reflecting together our own faith and vocation, celebrating them in community, evaluating honestly our life together, with simplicity and tenderness.

We are committed to the building of the Kingdom in our daily life and to liberating missionary actions.

  • A MISSIONARY LIFESTYLE
    • From an integrating spirituality (action-contemplation)
    • With coherence between faith and life.
    • Living with availability and generosity in everything we face each day, collaborating in some MMB mission and/or ecclesial commitment, and in other liberating tasks, according to each one’s possibility.
    • Simplicity in our lifestyle. Building relationships founded in love, dialogue, in the simplicity of the family spirit, believing in our own potentiality and that of others. With a lifestyle that is not founded in a superfluous consumerism, avoid being influenced by society so we can share more with the less fortunate of the world.
    • Living and communicating deep joy, being signs of hope.
    • With a liberating spirit that will allow us to discern the reality with a critical and evangelical mind.
    • Making of all of this a Personal project that integrates all the above aspects.
  • A COMMUNITY PROJECT

Each community will elaborate its Community Project, keeping in mind its own characteristics and the reality in which it is immersed, committing to:

    • Know, deepen and live the MMB Charism.
    • Prepare and take part in the meeting of the lay community.
    • Live an apostolic and social commitment in the world, work, family and society; each one from the situation that she/he can, but feeling the challenge, the sending and the support of the lay community.
    • Collaborate with the Church and the MMB Institute in their projects and needs, and open to the needs around us.
    • Work in our own on-going formation.
